On the basis of several dozen expeditions with CB but also with two meters in the hills of Slovakia and Moravia (e.g. also Solisko 1840m, Kráľova hoľa 1948m, Chopok 2032m or Lomnický štít 2633m) we have developed a certain know-how in our team that can be beneficial to you as well. These are a few organizational and tourist tricks rather than technical preparation....
Carefully weigh the pros and cons of each odds, which catches your eye. The most important aspect is the estimation of signal propagation. It is possible to climb a two-thousand-thousand-meter mountain covered by three-thousanders on three sides, but it's not the smartest thing to do. Peaks with circular views are marked on tourist maps. It also doesn't hurt to dust off old magazines. They contain mysterious and magical stories from the expeditions of our fathers and grandfathers.... Many dimensions have already been forgotten. However, the situation may have changed, and a once weak share can be extremely attractive today.
The second plus point is the electrical outlet.

If they are at (or almost at) the top of the building, see if they could be accommodated there. Most chats have a website where this data is. If not, a "native" in the know can help. He doesn't even have to be a radio amateur. Such an intermediary can be very valuable! Contacts can also be obtained through municipal offices. If you find the right person and are nice enough, you will learn a lot - phone numbers, addresses, advice...
If the previous procedure was successful, there is still more to do personal visit. Take your time, take your family and go exploring under the pretext of a "trip". Any economically-minded owner of such a property knows that you can improve his budget. If possible, make a photo documentation of the occasion.
However, there are still many bare hills where there is neither electricity nor accommodation. However, you can also broadcast from the car. It is very difficult to implement from a tent, and certainly not in the winter season, which lasts a little longer at higher altitudes. Such hills are mainly found in national parks with a higher degree of nature protection. Sometimes, however, a pass for the entry of a motor vehicle or bivouac can be obtained relatively cheaply from the park administration. However, prepare an argumentation and explanation of what you are actually talking about in advance. Don't try it black, the fines are in the thousands and tens of thousands.
TV and radio transmitters are a special case. In recent years, however, they have been modified to be unmanned. However, a few still require the permanent presence of an attendant. Such objects are not normally accessible to the public, but if you make a request for an excursion, there is a chance that you will be granted. However, the intensity of the electric field is usually very high, so be careful not to be disappointed!
It makes no sense to even think about hills where only the SR Army has facilities. The army keeps its secrets and no excursions are out of the question. In addition, such a course of the radar (especially on higher bands) will probably quickly take away your desire to broadcast.

Whether we go up the hill on our own or by some means of transport (car, chairlift, cable car), remember that you are going to nature. Because we want to go there, but we have to go back! This means appropriate clothing. But especially the shoes. The feet are the furthest place from the heart. Better to invest a few hundred more in good shoes than in another part of your outfit. Thermal underwear (Craft, Moira, Lytex, etc.) is justified for hiking. Products from them must fit tightly to the body. In this case, the sweat immediately gets from the skin to other layers of clothing. However, it does not protect against the wind. The second place that is worth keeping warm is the head, because the brain consumes a large amount of blood. A good windstopper hat is priceless in winter.
Spare clothes are also a matter of course. It is used after climbing, until sweat dries, after rain or after falling into a stream. I recommend spare clothes of a different kind than what you are wearing. For example, if I'm wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, I have a turtleneck in reserve. In case it gets cold, I'll wear both. I'll be shivering from the cold with two short-sleeved T-shirts...

A backpack is a very important accessory. The biggest enemies of portability are weight and bulk. Každý kilogram, každý centimeter je dôležitý. Pretože na rozdiel From bežných turistov, ktorí si hodia do batoha tri rožky, paštiku a minerálku, my nesieme do prírody množstvo zariadení. Koľko váži váš zdroj? Aký veľký máte PSV meter?
This means thinking and taking only the most necessary. A set of screwdrivers is nice, but wouldn't one be enough? Second, I can use a Swiss army knife (for small screws the tip of a knife, for the middle tip of a can opener, for large screws a bottle opener). Also consider the dimensions and weight of the coolers - use a smaller cooler and fan instead. The largest is always the antenna and mast. The maximum load-bearing length can be 220 centimeters. With longer tubes, forget about any public transport, you'll still have plenty of fun on the train or bus.
The rucksack has to withstand the load you put on it. Not every backpack can handle it. Backpacks made of Cordur are very durable. Trekker ones fit up to 15 kg. The size is determined by what you need to carry. It will be more rather than less, so look for at least a 60 liter backpack. The model itself is not important - when choosing, try to imagine what you would attach to where with a strap, what you would put inside,...
The mast is often a big conundrum. The strength does not have to be driven only by the thickness of the pipe wall. It is preferable to use a pipe with a larger diameter. Anchoring is a must. Fušerina + fušerina = broken antenna. Anchoring with four anchor cables (90° each) at two heights has been proven, which prevents the mast from bending. You can buy good anchor ropes in sports shops under the name auxiliary climbing ropes. They have enormous tensile strength. The disadvantage is elasticity. However, the variant with Kevlar fibers, which is stronger than steel cable of the same diameter, is hellishly expensive.
Of course, this is only the basic equipment. Someone will need a sleeping bag, a tent, a camping stove, folding furniture,... However, a rucksack must not be missing: an up-to-date map to a sufficient extent (not able to clarify), compass (for orientation, also to determine the azimuth of the antenna), waterproof flashlight (if it is necessary to do something outside at night, for signaling in the event of an accident, etc.), waterproof matches, a knife and documents (citizen's card, health insurance card and concession). A mobile phone is always useful, whether in case of problems or arranging skeds, connecting to the Internet or cluster. Just in case, pack a few medicines (Anopyrin, Fenistil, bandage, plasters).
In the summer, access to the elevations is better. The ascent on foot can be made even easier with aids: telescopic sticks (nezabúdajte na kilogramy na chrbte), camelbag (a bag from which you can drink at any time) or bandages. In winter they are the perfect companion for ordinary people beans for youth (not children's model). Up the hill we can take part of the material in them, we can go down. More sporty radio amateurs can try climbing a hill on belts.
