World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) 2022

What is WRTC?

The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is a 24-hour competition for two-man teams to establish competitive radio amateur links. All teams have almost identical conditions, use the same antennas, broadcast from the same geographical region with the same power. The history of the WRTC began in Seattle in 1990. It was followed by San Francisco (1996), Slovenia (2000), Finland (2002), Brazil (2006), Russia (2010), Boston (2014) and Germany (2018).

Qualifying for the WRTC

Only a limited number of competitors can participate in this event. Therefore, it is necessary to qualify for the WRTC. For the year 2022, the qualification results were collected from February 2019 to November 2020. The number of points obtained is calculated by a rather complex formula:

Why such a pattern? The organizers of the WRTC try to take into account the different difficulty of the race, category or location. Until the qualification započítavajú tieto contesty:

Next is the area. OK and OM belong together with HA, YO, EU, UR, ER and UA6 to group EU#8. This is very important for the last parameter of the formula. This is the best achieved score of any station from the given area in the given category. There are further refinements to this, because the operator may, for example, work from different areas and also in some categories there may be very few participants from the given area, so the sequence of scores by category is also taken into account.

Malo byť 6.-11.júla 2022 v talianskej Bologni. Samozrejme situácia s Covid-19 komplikuje aj toto podujatie, ale zostáva nám dúfať, že sa uskutoční podľa plánu. Súťažiť by sa malo v kategórii M2.
