HAM RADIO Friedrichshafen has long been one of the most important amateur radio events in Europe and is a mandatory summer stop for most operators on our continent. The organizers have already officially confirmed the date of the 2026 edition and a new feature that will appear for the first time alongside the traditional exhibition - a separate event dedicated to astronomy called ASTRO.

What is the purpose of the meeting?
HAM RADIO Friedrichshafen je tradične najväčšie rádioamatérske podujatie v Európe, na ktoré sa pravidelne hlásia návštevníci z viac než 50 krajín sveta. Výstavná plocha presahuje 27 000 m² a organizátori každoročne evidujú stovky vystavovateľov, klubov, asociácií a predajcov rádioamatérskej techniky.
Súčasťou programu je rozsiahly odborný program organizovaný v spolupráci s nemeckým zväzom DARC (Deutscher Amateur-Radio-Club), which hosts a series of technical lectures and workshops on topics such as HF contesting, DX expeditions, EME prevádzka, mikrovlny, SDR technológie, digitálne módy, anténne systémy, meteor scatter operation or amateur radio satellites.
An integral part of the exhibition is also the largest amateur radio flea market in Europe, where visitors can find a wide selection of equipment - from historic tube devices, vintage receivers and measurement equipment to SDR devices, antenna components, PA transistors, coaxial cables, microwave components or old QSL cards and magazines.
The exhibition is also a place where amateur radio equipment manufacturers regularly present new products - visitors can see and try out new products from brands such as Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood, Elecraft, FlexRadio, WiMo, Acom, Expert Electronics, RF Power and Diamond Antenna.
A characteristic part of the event are also live demonstrations of amateur radio operations - connections via amateur satellites, contact with the ISS, balloon experiments, EME presentations and demonstrations of SDR systems. The organizers have also been thinking about a youth program for a long time, which includes workshops for children, construction workshops, Morse code lessons and the popular HAMCamp for young radio amateurs.
Friedrichshafen is an extremely important event for the DX community - members of large DX clubs, expedition organizers, and representatives of diploma programs meet here to personally discuss upcoming expeditions, contest activities, and future projects.
Novinka 2026: ASTRO popri HAM RADIO
One of the main innovations of the 2026 edition will be the parallel event ASTRO, which the organizers will present for the first time. The new exhibition will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026 and will focus on astronomy, astrophotography and modern observing technologies. The whole concept carries the motto "Discover the Sky: Amateur Radio meets Astronomy".
Podľa organizátorov toto prepojenie nie je náhodné – rádioamatérstvo a astronómia majú k sebe tradične blízko, keďže obe oblasti spája technická kreativita, práca s elektromagnetickým spektrom, záujem o vesmír a silná komunita nadšencov. V rámci ASTRO je plánovaný samostatný program prednášok, astro burza aj prezentácie výrobcov astronomickej techniky. Návštevníci HAM RADIO budú môcť navštíviť sekciu ASTRO s jednou, spoločnou vstupenkou.

The discounted ticket is intended for children aged 6 to 14, pupils, apprentices, students, pensioners and people with disabilities upon presentation of a valid document. Combination tickets including boat transport across Lake Constance will also be available - the combination ticket can always only be purchased online, it is not for sale directly on the ferry or catamaran.
Transportation to the exhibition center
Friedrichshafen is located on Lake Constance, close to the borders with Austria and Switzerland, so the location is easily accessible by car, Deutsche Bahn trains, plane, ferry or catamaran across the lake. The organizers provide MesseExpress transport between the transport hubs and the exhibition center.
