Už o pár hodín sa začne CW časť CQ WPX Contest-u: 30-31 May 2009 from Saturday 00.00GMT to Sunday 23.59GMT, celé preteky teda trvajú 48 hodín, s výnimkou kategórie jednotlivcov – Single OP, kde je možné byť na pásmach maximálne 36 hodín.
Connections are established with all stations. S jednou stanicou je možné uskutočniť na jednom pásme 1 QSO. Preteká sa v pásmach 1,8 až 28MHz (okrem WARC). Kategórie:

MULTI-ONE – max. one TX signal, only all bands and high power (max. 1500W). Valid for 10 min. rule when changing band (with the exception of obtaining a new multiplier)
MULTI-TWO max.dva TX signály, iba všetky pásma a high power (max.1500W)
MULTI-MULTI without TX signal limit, only all bands and high power (max. 1500W)
The use of the DX cluster in the SOAB and SOSB categories means automatic transfer to the Assisted category. It is allowed to use in other categories DX cluster, self-spotting alebo požadovanie spotovania sú zakázané.
Súťažný kód: RS(T) + QSO sequence number from 001.

Scoring:
A QSO with a station from another continent in the 28/21/14 MHz bands counts for 3 points and in the 7/3.5/1.8 MHz bands for 6 points
A QSO with a station on one's own continent but not one's own country in the 28/21/14 MHz bands is counted for 1 point and in the 7/3.5/1.8 MHz bands for 2 points

Násobiče: the multiplier is valid prefixes 1x per race, regardless of the band and the number of connections with stations with the given prefix. A valid prefix is a combination of letters and numbers in the station tag expressing the geographic location of the station. For example: DL1, P40, P41, OE25, etc. Designations such as maritime mobile, mobile, /A, /E, /J, /P are not counted as prefixes.
Výsledok: in the case of a single OP of all bands, it is given by the sum of points for connections from all bands times the number of different prefixes once per race, regardless of the band (e.g. if the station establishes a connection with DL5 on three bands, only one multiplier is counted).
In the category single OP one band, the result is given by the sum of points for connections from the given band times the number of different prefixes.
In the Multi categories, the result is calculated in the same way as in the single OP category of all bands.
