CQ WPX Contest CW 2013

The time of the CQ WPX Contest is coming: CW May 24-26 2013! The start is at 00.00GMT and the end is 23.59GMT, so the whole race lasts 48 hours, with the exception of the category of individuals - Single OP, where it is possible to be on the bands to the maximum 36 hours.

Connections are established with all stations. With one station it is possible to perform on one band 1 QSO. It is raced in bands 1,8 up to 28MHz (specify WARC). Categories:

A. Single Operator category: Only one person (operator) can contribute to the total score for the duration of the race. Only one broadcast signal is allowed at any time. QSO alerting assistance of any kind moves the participant to the Single Operator Assisted category (see subsection B below).

(a) Single Operator High (all bands or one band): One person performs all operational and logging activities. QSO alerting assistance is not allowed. The total output power must not exceed 1500W.

(b) Single Operator Low (all bands or one band): One person performs all operational and logging activities. QSO alerting is not allowed. The total output power must not exceed 100W.

(c) Single Operator QRP (all bands or one band): One person performs all operational and logging activities. QSO alerting is not allowed. The total output power must not exceed 5W.

B. Single Operator Assisted Categories: All operational and logging activities are performed by one person (operator). Only one broadcast signal is allowed at any time. Participants in this category can use QSO alerting assistance.

(a) Single Operator ASSISTED High (all bands or one band): The total output power must not exceed 1500W.

(b) Single Operator ASSISTED Low (all bands or one band): The total output power must not exceed 100W.

(c) Single Operator ASSISTED QRP (all bands or one band): The total output power must not exceed 5W.

C. Single Operator additional category: Participants of the Single Operator category can also submit your journal to one from the categories below so, that they add the CATEGORY-OVERLAY line to the Cabrillo log header.

(a) Tribander/Single Element (TB-WIRES): A participant may only use one during the race (1) tribander (any type, one common feeder from the transmitter to the antenna) for bands 10, 15 a 20 meters, and single-element band antennas 40, 80 a 160 meters.

(b) Rookie (ROOKIE): A participant can apply for this category if, at the time of the race, he was the holder of a radio amateur license at most 3 years. In the SOAPBOX field, indicate the date of obtaining the first license.

D. Multi-Operator categories (all bands only, low power): Several people can contribute to the station's total score during the race. The category is determined based on the number of transmitted signals. The total output power of each transmitted signal must not exceed 1500W.

(a) Single-Transmitter (MULTI-ONE): Only one broadcast signal is allowed at any time. Within each hour (minutes 00 to 59) a maximum of ten is allowed (10) band changes. For example, changing the band from 20m to 40m and back to 20m represents two band changes. One connection numbering sequence is used for the entire log.

(b) Two-Transmitter (MULTI-TWO): A maximum of two broadcast signals on different bands are allowed at any given time. Each transmitter can establish connections with any stations. One connection can be made with each station on each band, regardless of the transmitter used. The log must contain the transmitter designation for each connection, which was used to establish it (column 81 in the CABRILLO QSO template for CQ contests). Each transmitter can during one hour (a minute 00 to 59) perform no more than eight (8) band changes. For example, changing the band from 20m to 40m and back to 20m represents two band changes. A separate connection numbering sequence is used for each band.

(c) Multi-Transmitter (MULTI-UNLIMITED): The number of transmitters is not limited, but only one broadcast signal is allowed on each band at any time (together 6 TX signals at one time). A separate connection numbering sequence is used for each band.

Contesting from home The station equipment itself must be placed in a circle with a diameter of up to 500 m. Participants must follow national licensing conditions, even if it puts them at a disadvantage compared to other competitors. This also applies to "remote stations", which are governed by country conditions, in which all receivers are located, transmitters and antennas.

News in the rules: transmitter power is defined as the sum of all instantaneous powers at a given time at the active output (active) final stages. The use of remote receivers is not allowed, e.g.. via Internet. If a competitor uses more than one transmitter on one band, must use a circuit preventing transmission to several at the same time. Post-contest correction of the logo using different databases is prohibited.

Competition code: RS(T) + serial number QSO from 001.
Stations of the Multi category number connections from 001 separately on each band.

Scoring:
QSO with a station from another continent in bands 28/21/14 MHz is calculated per 3 points and in bands 7/3,5/1,8 MHz of 6 points

QSO with a station on its own continent, but not by the country itself in the bands 28/21/14 MHz is calculated per 1 point and in bands 7/3,5/1,8 MHz of 2 body

QSO within own DXCC regardless of band 1 that

Multipliers: the multiplier is valid prefixes 1x per race, regardless of the band and the number of connections with stations with the given prefix. A valid prefix is a combination of letters and numbers in the station tag expressing the geographic location of the station. For example: DL1, P40, P41, OE25 a pod. Designations such as maritime mobile, mobil, /A, /E, /J, /P's do not count as prefixes.

The result: in the case of single OP of all bands, it is given by the sum of points for connections from all bands times the number of different prefixes once per race, regardless of band (e.g.. if the station establishes a connection with DL5 on three bands, only one multiplier is calculated).

In the category single OP one band, the result is given by the sum of points for connections from the given band times the number of different prefixes.

In the Multi categories, the result is calculated in the same way as in the single OP category of all bands.

Diaries: mainly journals in CABRILLO electronic format are accepted (don't forget to fill in the header correctly, otherwise, your log may be reassigned to the logs for review). Send the log file in an e-mail attachment without text, where you write only your brand in the subject of the email. Send logs from the CW section to cw@cqwpx.com (until June 1 2013). Log receipt will be confirmed and a list of received logs can be found at www.cqwpx.com
