Did you know that the town of Nora in Sardinia can boast of being the first in the world to introduce home radio? In the ruins of the ancient Roman theater, archaeologists found clay vessels up to 1.5 m long, open at both ends, narrowed at one end. Several of them were placed in the niches of the low wall in front of the stage. It is believed that they were used to amplify the actors' voices from the stage.
An old inscription also mentions these "vases", but none could be found for a long time. Richer theaters first had them made of bronze, and so after the overthrow of the Roman Empire, they became the prey of the victors, while the cheap clay from the provincial theater probably did not attract anyone.
