Panama as a DXCC entity

Panama is located in Central America and borders Costa Rica and Colombia. It has the coast of both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It has 75,516 km² and approximately 4.1 million inhabitants, the capital is Panama. From a geographical point of view, it is a strategically located country, the importance of which is underlined by the Panama Canal.
Spread from Panama to Europe
Connections between Central Europe and Panama depend on the current state of the ionosphere, time of day and night, solar activity and the band used. On the 20 m (14 MHz) band, it is worth watching especially the daytime and early evening openings towards the American continent. The 15 m (21 MHz) and 10 m (28 MHz) bands can offer strong signals and high-quality connections under favorable conditions, but their availability depends significantly on ionospheric conditions.
After dark, the 40 m (7 MHz) and 80 m (3.5 MHz) bands may also be of interest. When using them, you have to take into account a higher level of interference and the fact that the suitable time window can change from day to day. Operators with less power will be helped by accurate tracking of DX clusters, a good receiving antenna and patient waiting for the band to open.
| Band | When is it worth watching? |
|---|---|
| 10 m and 15 m | during the day if the band is open |
| 20 m | base band, day and twilight |
| 40 m and 80 m | at night, a window through dusk and dawn |
