Safety on the Internet
Viruses and other malicious software can really spoil the mood - but only if you're not careful. Fix packs and updates of operating systems solve flaws that were not discovered during the creation of the operating system. In the Windows environment, enable automatic updates (Settings - Control Panel - Automatic updates). After downloading such a package, a yellow shield icon will appear on the bar on the right. Click on it to open a window and start the installations.
The firewall serves to prevent access from/to a computer in the network. It works based on definable rules. If you don't want someone to rummage through your computer, it's a good idea to have a firewall. Windows XP already has at least a simple firewall integrated, Windows Vista a relatively decent firewall. Higher quality and more expensive network elements (e.g. routers) have a built-in hardware firewall. However, check in the configuration whether it is also turned on.
Huge security holes represent routers, or WI-FI routers set from the factory. There are thousands of routers in Slovakia that a primary school student can connect to. After entering the basic access data (e.g. on the DSL line), it is advisable to set the firewall, IP addresses and WI-FI configuration. If you don't need wireless networks, turn them off.
Using other programs, e.g. the removal of malicious software (malware) depends on the scope of features of the antivirus package.
Browsers
Windows users are certainly familiar with Internet Explorer. Its competition is Mozilla Firefox www.mozilla.sk or Opera www.opera-prehliadac.com . Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Opera is the fastest, Firefox has the most add-ons, most websites are written for Internet Explorer. Due to the most massive expansion of Internet Explorer, it also has a problem with the fact that malware concentrates all the more on breaking its protection.
Email box
Surely everyone who has a regular connection to the Internet has an e-mail box. Several servers provide the option of a free e-mail box. Not only its capacity is important, but also its reliability and additional services such as an antivirus and spam filter, or intuitiveness and possibilities of webmail or mail servers.
I have had very bad experiences with mailboxes on the post.sk and seznam.cz servers. Attachments are sometimes lost on the first, and emails on the second.
The minimum number of e-mail boxes is two. Use one only as a spam bin - use this email address when filling out forms on the Internet.
Windows and Linux
Another problem is often associated with email addresses – their shape. A large number of servers on the Internet use Linux, which, however, distinguishes between upper and lower case letters. If I have an e-mail box on a Linux server, e.g. Jan.Novak@xyz.sk and write me an email at jan.novak@xyz.sk, the email will be returned to you as undeliverable. The same applies to access names and passwords, if you also use capital letters in them, remember them in the form you entered - because most of the time you don't know if the server is running on Linux or Windows.
Names and passwords
Allow the storage of access names and passwords on the computer only if you do not care about the possibility of their misuse. Better to write them down on paper and after a week of use, when you have them in your head, throw the paper away. A good access name is a combination of letters and numbers, e.g. "5onovak" is better than "petonovak". Perhaps it goes without saying that the name and password should be different....
We are looking right

A person thinks like this: "I would like to go on vacation to the High Tatras, I will need accommodation somewhere".
A two-word phrase in the first case will bring the best results in the search engine. The entry "accommodation in the High Tatras" describes exactly what you want and you get to a number of pages with offers from which you can choose.
However, if the site list listing does not match your idea, you probably did not enter the correct keywords. For example, pages with tourist guides, maps, and geographical data will be displayed for the phrase "High Tatras".
There are many search engines and catalog sites. Why? It is because of specialization. General search engines like Google, Yahoo, List, List etc are good for general things. Many times they are specialized, e.g. regional search engines much more accurate to our query.
Learning how to properly search the sea of websites is one of the most important things and at the same time the most difficult. So it requires patience.
Conclusion
The internet is a great thing. I wish all its users many nice moments, but don't forget that a person is alive not only through the computer, HI.
