The maximum of the Leonid meteor shower is on Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009. Forecasts call for a few secondary highs that will be unremarkable on their own. However, there is a chance that they will coincide and thus the maximum can be much more significant.
Meteors will fly out of the radiant with coordinates α = 152° δ = +22°. The meteors will be very fast (their geocentric speed is 70.9 km/s).
Leonids prepared an unforgettable experience for radio amateurs in 1998. This year's ones will probably be weaker, but Leonids are still an opportunity to get new squares on VKV.
