Since its inception, amateur radio has been built on two pillars - technical progress and interpersonal relations. Although the modern age allows instant communication via digital networks, satellites, or by reflection from the moon, nothing can replace face-to-face contact. There are several events in the Central European area that embody these values, but the meeting called LOŚ is one of the most important. The name LOŚ, which means "loose" in Polish, became a symbol of this meeting. There is also an unofficial explanation circulating among radio amateurs that it is an abbreviation of three voivodeships – Łódzkie, Opolskie and Śląskie – although the organizers themselves present it as a distinctive and memorable name of the event.

The genesis and importance of regional connectivity
The idea to organize a meeting that would cross the borders of one region arose from the natural need of radio amateurs from southern and central Poland to look for common points of contact. It is the borders of these three voivodeships that create a specific geographical and social space where the traditions of industrial Silesia, agricultural Opole and the dynamic Łódź Voivodeship are mixed.
The original intention was not to create competition for large national meetings, but rather to offer a platform that is closer to people, family-friendly and at the same time technically high level. Over the years, LOŚ has developed into an event that regularly attracts not only radio amateurs from all over Poland, but also guests from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany. For Slovak radio amateurs, especially from the regions of Orava, Kysúc and Považia, this meeting is one of the most accessible opportunities to get a glimpse of Polish amateur radio cuisine.
Jaworzno: A place where time stops
For a long time, the center of the events of the LOŚ meeting became the town of Jaworzno, specifically a recreation center near the local lakes. The choice of location is not random. Jaworzno is located in the heart of an industrial area, but the meeting places themselves are often situated in nature, which allows radio amateurs not only to discuss technology, but also to practically test antennas in the field.
Jaworzno lies on the route from Wieluń to Czenstochová; at the roundabout, head towards Radomsko and after approximately 1 km turn left onto the hill. The blue marking is already visible from the roundabout. There is plenty of space on an almost flat, slightly wooded terrain. You can park a car, a trailer and even build 1000 tents with masts and antennas here. WC service is provided on site, as well as water and soap for washing.
Program structure: More than just a parts exchange
Although many visitors come primarily for the so-called "giełda" (stock exchange), the program of the LOŚ meeting is much more comprehensive. The organizers try to balance three main aspects: education, presentation of news and social integration.
Technical lectures and workshops

Professional presentations are one of the key points of the program. These lectures are led by experienced operators who are willing to share not only their successes, but also mistakes to avoid when building equipment. This creates a unique educational environment where beginners can learn from the legends of Polish amateur radio.
The "black magic" of ferrites will be presented by Marcin SP9ONE, who is going to reveal how to tame it.
Radio amateur exchange
The exchange at the LOŚ meeting is legendary. It's the place to find treasures from vintage tube equipment to state-of-the-art microwave components. It's a paradise for a radio amateur-designer. You can often find here specific connectors, ceramic insulators or measuring devices that are unavailable in regular stores. However, the stock market is not only about sales. It is a place of intense discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of specific radio stations, where the opinions of buyers and sellers meet in a friendly spirit.
Integration and HAM spirit in practice
If we had to highlight one thing that makes LOŚ special, it is the family atmosphere. The organizers place great emphasis on the fact that the meeting is not only for license holders, but also for their family members. There are often accompanying events for children and family members, helping to dispel the myth of radio amateurs as a closed and isolated hobby of "basement geeks".
Evening sittings by the fire are a time when the differences between experienced DX-men with thousands of connections and young adepts who have just received their first license blur. New friendships are born here, joint expeditions to mountain tops (SOTA) or to protected areas (POTA) are planned. This informal part of the program is for many the heart of the whole meeting.
For any radio amateur who wants to expand his horizons, gain new knowledge or simply spend a pleasant weekend in a circle of like-minded enthusiasts, visiting this event is almost a must-see.
Let's hope that the tradition of LOŚ meetings will continue in the coming years and that we will see more and more Slovak radio amateurs at them. After all, amateur radio knows no borders, and meetings like this one remind us of that in the best light. Whether you are an enthusiast of Morse code, digital modes or an antenna designer, at LOŚ-i 29.-31.mája 2026 si nájdete svoje miesto a domov sa vrátite s pocitom, že toto hobby má pred sebou ešte dlhú a fascinujúcu cestu.
