Traditional microwave race 2010, held within IARU Region 1, once again brought a lot of interesting results and demonstrated the high technical level of Slovak radio amateurs. The competition took place on bands from 1.3 GHz to 24 GHz and involved a number of stations trying to establish as many connections as possible over the greatest possible distance. The evaluation of the race was processed by Paľo OM5CM from Vrábel on July 17, 2010, while the overall evaluation included approx 700 competition diaries from the IARU Region 1 countries.
In the category 1.3 GHz Single just dominated OM5CM, which he obtained from the JN87WV locator 18,819 points for 69 connections. Longest connection (ODX) followed up with the station DF0YY at a distance 607 km, while using 150 W power and a 1.8 m dish. He took the second place OM3FW with an excellent result 16,457 points, 71 connections and ODX with DH8WJ (588 km). He finished in third place OM3ID, which, with a power of only 8 W and a 37-element F9FT antenna, scored 4,448 points - proof that even with lower power, good results can be achieved on microwaves.
In the category 1.3 GHz Multi a single station - a team - was introduced OM3RAL, which reached with 39 connections 8,440 points. They used 25 W power and 55-element yagi antenna, while the longest connection was completed by OK2KKW (482 km).
On the band 5.7 GHz Single won OM3ID, which with a power of 160 mW (!) and a 70 cm parabola achieved 782 points for three connections. The longest QSO carried out with OE5VRL/5 for a distance of 432 km - which is an excellent result considering the very low power.
In the category 10 GHz Single he continued OM3ID in his achievements - this time he won with 2,954 points and ten connections, while the longest connection was with OK1VAM/Mr (543 km). He took the second place OM1GX (1,093 points) and third OM3TUC (891 points). In the category 10 GHz Multi the team won OM3W with 23 connections and 4,008 points.
On the highest band 24 GHz Single he triumphed OM3LQ, which with a power of 250 mW and a 60 cm dish obtained 644 points for five connections.
