Staszek, SP9XCN, brought the sad news: Yesterday morning, after a long and difficult illness, my father – Edward SP9H – left the land of eternal DX. He dedicated his whole life to amateur radio. He started in 1965 in Rawicz at the SP3ZHW club under the supervision of Janko SP3AXI, where he also obtained the license SP3BBH. After moving to Silesia to Gliwice, he changed his callsign to SP9BBH and later shortened it to SP9H.
For many years he broadcast on homemade devices and simple wire antennas. He confirmed 335/340 DXCC countries, all of which he worked with low power and relatively simple antennas. He placed highly in both national and international contests. For many years he was the operator of SN0HQ at various locations.
Since 2006, he was one of the operators of the Piotr's contest station SP9QMP – SO9Q, where he and his colleagues achieved very good results. He loved family, amateur radio, and kayaking. I will miss him very much. Staszek SP9XCN
