1. Make a backup of the memory channels and settings, as these will be erased after the mandatory reset of the transceiver.
2. Disconnect all connectors from the power supply, antenna.
3. Unscrew 8 screws from the cover along the edge.
4. Remove the cover and follow the speaker wire.
5. Pull out the speaker plug.
6. Locate the microprocessor (with the crystal on it) in the corner of the radio.
7. To the left of the microprocessor are eight SMD prepojok na hrane obvodovej dosky.
8. FT-7800E (European model), on the second jumper (from the front) R1289 is installed, remove it for transmission range extension up to 136-174MHz, 420-470MHz.
9. Place the jumper in the third position from the front R1290 to maintain automatic repeater shift (and still keep the extended frequency range)
10. Connect the speaker cable and close the transceiver.
11. Connect the power to the transceiver.
12. Press the [MHz (PRI)] button and turn on the transceiver.
13. Rotate the carousel switch to F-5 'ALLRST' for a full reset and confirm for at least 500ms by holding the [BAND (SET)] button.
14. The transceiver is now reset and ready for use.
15. Load the memory channels back into the computer
16. The modification is now complete.

This operation is of course at your own risk and voids the warranty.
