APRS iGate – OM3KAP-1
Implementation APRS iGate station OM3KAP-1 on the locator JN88XO
APRS is a growing phenomenon among radio amateurs. It allows you to send various types of information, whether it's about your current location, weather, or various warnings via radio frequency. Thanks to iGate stations, this information can also be sent to the Internet. The most famous site for displaying this information is the portal aprs.fi.
To improve signal coverage, we decided to build an iGate in the JN88XO locator in cooperation with the OM3KAP radio club, which covers a large part of western Slovakia as can be seen in the following picture:
The equipment of the iGate station consists of a Stabo SA4000 radio station with an output power of 5W, omnidirectional antenna, modem AEA PK-232MBX Mikrotik router. The Mikrotik router runs the Linux distribution OpenWRT in which it is launched program APRX, which takes care of receiving packets, digipating and forwarding packets to the Internet.
