Známy časopis CQ Magazine is organizing a CQ WW VHF competition on July 19-20, 2003 with the aim of increasing activity on VHF bands 50 and 144 MHz. Since on the same date, we also have a 2 m Operating assets, môže byť pre niekoho jednoduché využiť QSO from the Operational Asset and at the same time complete the logbook for CQ WW VHF. Scoring is simple, and practically all QSOs you manage to make during the competition can be counted. Here is a brief translation of the terms:
CQ WW VHF contest
Deadline:
from 19.07.2003 18:00 UTC
until 20.07.2003 21:00 UTC

I. Competition period:
27 hours for all stations, in all categories.
You can work any part of the competition without restrictions.
II. Goal of the competition:
The goal of the competition is to make as many QSOs as possible during 27 hours.
And for those interested in diplomas, to also get as many new large squares (LOCs) as possible.
III. Bands:
All permitted radio amateur frequencies on 50 and 144 MHz, according to local permit conditions and license classes.

IV. Categories:
- Single Op – obe pásma: one operator, one signal, band change at any time without time limit.
- Single Op – jedno pásmo: one operator, one signal.
- Multi-Op: multiple operators, one signal on each band, simultaneous transmission on both bands allowed.
- Rover: a station that visits at least 2 large squares during the competition. Max. 2 operators. Stations in this category indicate their brand with the suffix Rover or /R. The goal is to activate as many large LOCs as possible, not compete with the best equipped stations.
- QRP stanice: single operator, maximum power allowed 10W or less, no other restrictions.
Stanice v akejkoľvek kategórii mimo Rover môžu počas súťaže vysielať len z jedného QTH (permanent or temporary). Rover stations may only transmit from transient QTHs in at least two major LOCs.

V. Code:
Brand and large square LOC (first 4 characters of LOC, eg JN88). The report and connection number are not mandatory and are not listed in the logs.
All connections, including non-competing (or participating in other contests) stations that provide us with LOCs, are included in the contest.
VI. Multipliers:
Multipliers are large LOCs on each band separately.
In the Rover category: each LOC on each band separately, in addition, each QTH is counted separately. The change must be clearly indicated in the journal (separate journals for each QTH).
- It is allowed to make another QSO with a station in the Rover category if it has changed the large square LOC.
- Large square LOC = first four characters of LOC (eg JN98).
VII. Scoring:
- 1 point for a QSO on 50 MHz
- 2 points for a QSO on 144 MHz
- Only one QSO with a different station on a specific band can be counted, regardless of the type of operation.
- Note: according to CQ it is allowed to count all QSOs of any type of traffic, except QSOs through transmitters (mainly digital on 6 m, JT6M, MS and FSK on 2 m MS, of course, if LOC is transmitted).

Celkový výsledok: total sum of points for individual bands x number of multipliers.
In the Rover category: the total sum of points from all QTHs x the total number of multipliers from all QTHs.
- The participant may not broadcast on FM converters.
- Strong warning against local connections in the DX segment 50.100–50.125 MHz and on calling frequencies 50.110, 50.125 and 144.200 MHz (in the EU 144.300 MHz).
- All times in logs must be in UTC.
Example:
K1GX worked:
- 50 QSOs (50×1=50) and 25 LOCs (25 multipliers) on 50 MHz
- 35 QSOs (35×2=70) and 8 LOCs (8 multipliers) on 144 MHz
- total 120 QSOs (50+70=120) × 33 multipliers (25+8=33) = 3960 points

VIII. Prices:
The winner of each category, the winner of each category on the continent and the winner of each category in each country will receive a diploma. A diploma can also be awarded to a station that shows great effort, at the discretion of the organizer.
IX. Miscellaneous:
- A station can only use one brand in the competition (even if it has more concessions).
- Different multipliers are calculated only when the position changes by at least 100 m (mainly the Rover category).
