RSGB IOTA contest patrí medzi obľúbené podujatia v kalendári KV contestov a každoročne priťahuje účastníkov z celého sveta. Ide o špeciálny typ contestu, kde kľúčovú rolu hrajú nie krajiny ani zóny, ale ostrovné skupiny programu IOTA – Islands on the Air. Pre expedičné stanice operujúce z kvalifikovaných ostrovov je IOTA contest hlavnou príležitosťou roka. Pre tzv. svetové stanice je cieľom vyzbierať čo najviac rôznych IOTA referencií na čo najviac pásmach.

Changes in 2026
Pravidlá IOTA Contesu 2026 obsahujú jednu formálnu zmenu oproti predchádzajúcim rokom: Assisted Categories sú od roku 2026 oprávnené na self-spotting, teda na vlastné pridávanie spotov na DX cluster. Self-spot je povolený pri prvom solicitovaní QSO na novej frekvencii a následne nie častejšie ako raz za 10 minút. Táto zmena zjednocuje prístup k self-spottingu s praxou bežnou vo viacerých iných medzinárodných contestoch.
The decision of March 4, 2022 remains in effect: all logs received from stations from the Russian Federation or Belarus are classified exclusively as check logs and are not included in the results.

Contest goal
The official goal of the IOTA Contest is to promote connections between stations in IOTA island groups and the rest of the world, as well as to encourage expeditions to IOTA islands. In practical terms, this means that Island Stations – i.e. stations operating from a qualifying island – are a commodity that others are interested in. For world stations, IOTA references are a score multiplier.
Date and time
IOTA contest 2026 sa koná v sobotu 25. júla a v nedeľu 26. júla 2026. Presný čas trvania je od 1200 UTC do 1200 UTC nasledujúceho dňa, teda 24 hodín. QSO uskutočnené presne v čase ukončenia ani neskôr sa nezapočítavajú.
Frequencies and modes
Povolené pásma sú 80 m (3,5 MHz), 40 m (7 MHz), 20 m (14 MHz), 15 m (21 MHz) a 10 m (28 MHz). Povolené módy sú CW a SSB. DIGIMODES vrátane FT8 nie sú povolené. Mixed-mode kategória umožňuje prevádzku na CW aj SSB na každom pásme, pričom sa používa jeden spoločný číselný rad pre sériové čísla bez ohľadu na mód.
Participants and operating conditions
IOTA contest je otvorený pre všetky stanice na svete. Účastníci sa delia na dve základné skupiny podľa umiestnenia stanice. Island Station je stanica prevádzkujúca z kvalifikovaného ostrova pre účely programu IOTA. operátor je povinný pred contestom overiť, či jeho QTH spĺňa podmienky IOTA kvalifikácie na stránke IOTA-world.org. World Station je každá stanica, ktorá neoperuje z kvalifikovaného ostrova. Povolené sú špeciálne aj klubové volací znaky.
All transmitters, receivers and antennas must be located within a radius of no more than 500 m. Remote receivers outside this location are not permitted. Remote World Station operation is permitted if the operator is located within 100 km of the remote station and in the same DXCC entity. Remote Island Station operation is permitted if the operator is in the same DXCC entity and within 100 km of the station and is located either on the same island or on an island belonging to the same IOTA group. The call sign must be issued or authorized by the regulatory authority of the country where the remote station is physically located.
Categories
By location
Island Station – Fixed is a station operating from a qualifying IOTA island with regular access. Island Station – DXpedition is a station also operating from a qualifying island, but with stricter conditions: the island must be accessible only by boat or aircraft – islands connected to the mainland by a bridge or causeway, artificial or natural, do not qualify for this category. Most operators must be non-residents of the island. Operators must bring all radio equipment and antennas with them and may not rely on any local masts or existing infrastructure. World Station is any station that does not fall into the previous categories. There are no multi-operator categories for World Stations.
By operators
Single Operator unassisted pracuje bez využitia DX clustra a podobných zdrojov spotov. Single Operator Assisted môže využívať DX cluster a od roku 2026 aj vlastné self-spoty. Pre nováčikov je k dispozícii overlay NEWCOMER pre Single Operator Categories, určený operátorom, ktorí získali prvú licenciu menej ako tri roky pred dátumom contestu. V Single Operator kategóriách smie byť v danom okamžiku vysielajúci vždy iba jeden signál.
Island Multi-1 and Island Multi-2 are multi-operator categories available exclusively to Island Stations, 24 hours a day, Mixed-mode, Assisted. Island Multi-1 has a maximum of two transmitters: a Run station (designated “0” in the Cabrillo logo) and a multiplier station (designated “1”), which may only be used to search for new multipliers and may not call CQ. Island Multi-2 allows a maximum of two simultaneous transmitted signals on different bands, both of which may call CQ and search for multipliers.
By performance
High power allows for the maximum licensed power, no more than 1500 W. Low power is limited to 100 W. QRP category is limited to 5 W. Stations that do not specify power will automatically be placed in High Power.
According to operating hours
Multi-operator categories must operate the station for a full 24 hours. Single Operator categories can choose 24 hours or 12 hours. In the 12-hour category, operation does not have to be continuous, but after the contest begins, there must be breaks of at least 60 minutes.
Code being exchanged
World Stations send RS(T) and a sequential serial number starting at 1, for example: 599 254. Island Stations send RS(T), a sequential serial number and their IOTA reference, for example: 59 378 EU-115. Island Stations should report their IOTA reference with every CQ call so that others can check for duplicates before replying. Mixed-mode operators do not use separate number lines for CW and SSB. If the other station does not send a code, I log a zero.

The multiplier is the total number of different IOTA references contacted on each band in CW, plus the total number of different IOTA references contacted on each band in SSB. The final score is the sum of the QSO points on all bands multiplied by the sum of the multipliers on all bands.
Log submission and evaluation
Denník sa odovzdáva vo formáte Cabrillo prostredníctvom upload formulára na rsgbcc.org najneskôr do 5 dní od skončenia IOTA contestu. Ak robot nájde formátové chyby, log odmietne a vyzve na opravné odovzdanie. Opakované nahrávanie logu je sledované z hľadiska vykonaných zmien. Používanie CAT riadenia transceivera pre správne zaznamenanie frekvencie a módu je odporúčané – chyby frekvencie a módu vedú k strate QSO bodov. Za každú chybu hrozí penalizácia vo výške dodatočných 5 points nad rámec strateného QSO.
Results and diplomas
The evaluated results are published online, including downloadable diaries of all participants. The winners of each category are marked directly in the results tables. Each participant can download their own certificate directly from the results page by filtering by their section and category. Trophies and awards are specified on the RSGB HF Contests page.
Additional rules
Volací znak musí byť posielaný najmenej pri každom treťom QSO a nie menej ako raz za minútu. Volací znaky zalogované musia byť totožné so znakmi vymenenými priamo počas QSO – oprava znakov po skončení contestu pomocou databáz, nahrávok, e-mailu alebo iných metód nie je dovolená. Všetky požiadavky na kontakt, odpovede na volania a kopírovanie znakov a kódov musia byť uskutočnené výlučne počas contestu na povolených módoch a frekvenciách. Ako súčasť vyhodnocovania môže byť požadovaný dôkaz o spojení, napríklad MP3 nahrávka. Akékoľvek porušenie ducha contestu môže viesť k diskvalifikácii alebo reklasifikácii na check log.
Declaration
Odovzdaním denníka každý účastník vyhlasuje, že stanica bola prevádzkovaná striktne v súlade s pravidlami a duchom contestu a v medziach licenčných podmienok, vrátane správnej výkonovej Categories. Účastník súhlasí s tým, že rozhodnutia RSGB HF Contest Committee sú v sporných prípadoch konečné, a udeľuje RSGB povolenie na hodnotenie, publikovanie a distribúciu odovzdaného denníka akýmikoľvek prostriedkami.

Summary
IOTA Contest je pre rádioamatérov z kontinentálnej Európy jedným z mála contestov, kde má fyzická poloha stanice rozhodujúci vplyv na skórovaciu pozíciu. World Stations z pevniny – vrátane slovenských operátorov – súperia medzi sebou o čo najväčší počet rôznych IOTA referencií a môžu si pripísať až 15 bodov za každé QSO s ostrovnou stanicou. Expediční operátori, ktorí v júli vyrazia na kvalifikovaný ostrov a splnia podmienky Categories DXpedition, súperia v samostatnej časti výsledkovej tabuľky. QRP kategória je otvorená pre obe skupiny a 5-wattový limit platí rovnako pre SSB, CW aj Mixed-mode. Termín odovzdania denníka je päť dní po skončení contestu – v roku 2026 teda najneskôr do piatku 31. júla 2026.
