The OM3KSI radio club, in cooperation with the Slovak Space Activities Organization, will once again look at the frontier of space. Day June 17, 2023 at approximately 8 a.m. our time a stratospheric balloon launch is planned from Malé Bielice airport near Partizánské. It will be part of the balloon SSTV beacon in the 144 MHz band.
The following two transmitters are placed on the balloon:
Transmitter for telemetry
It transmits basic data such as GPS coordinates and altitude
Frequency: 434.550 MHz
Power: 10 mW
Mode: RTTY 50/540 7N1
OM0MVX beacon transmitter
It will broadcast in-flight SSTV images.
Frequency: 144.500 MHz
Power: 1 W
Mode: SSTV PD120
We recommend using the DL-FLDIGI software to decode the telemetry data regarding the position of our stratospheric balloon. On the website of the UK High Altitude Society project, you can download DL-FLDIGI for free and study the Slovak instructions on how to use this radiosonde tracking software. The project page with the Slovak manual is on this link HERE.
If you do not have the opportunity to decode the telemetry data about the position of our balloon, you can follow its flight on the website habhub.org. The link to this page is HERE.
You can use the popular program RX-SSTV to receive SSTV images. The link to download it is HERE.
You can send the received picture(s) to our e-mail address om3ksi(zav)gmail.com and write your name and, if you have one, a radio amateur brand in the body of the message.
