25 anniversary of the visit of radio amateurs in Kovacice

It's been a long time, still in my early amateur radio in 1995 I am at the invitation of my friend Jan YT7FT, who was my guest, accepted the invitation to Kovacica. I will not list my experiences here, lots of fun and entertainment, what we went through together. but one day I went out on my father's Skoda 120, together with friends Roman OM2RC (ex OM3TXY) and Jan OM2XW (ex OM3TQX) to Kovacica for a visit. We met a lot of nice people there, we were treated excellently, Proste police station 🙂

We also took part in the Slovak National Festival in Bacské Petrovec, a large column of tanks of the Serbian Army was passing by in the evening, we sat there by the store on the street with a case of beer and just *****ed, what is going on. There are also photos, of course on paper and on film, digital did not exist then. I will definitely publish them on the portal https://om3tix.rajce.idnes.cz/

I have now published the third and last part of the video on my YouTube channel, which I received at the time of parting with Kovacicou. It was filmed with a VHS camera as usual, recently digitized.

The first part offers a look into the history of the YU7AJQ radio club, education and course of young operators.

In the second part, there is already our visit to the club in the year 1995 and live broadcasting on Radio Kovacica

And finally the third, the last part presents friendly conversations during hospitality, which the club members organized for us. The highlight of the meeting was the visit of the chairman of Matica Slovenská in Yugoslavia, Mr. Benko, who, unfortunately, is no longer with us, but his sincere and wise words left a deep memory in me.

What to say in conclusion? Plans and enthusiasm were great at that time, but then the situation changed rapidly. They were already announcing on the radio during our visit, for tourists and visitors to leave the country. Then came the war in the Balkans, so it moved from other areas, there was humanitarian bombing and killing of innocent people in Vojvodina and Serbia, destruction of infrastructure, industry and economy, and this had a devastating impact on the YU7AJQ radio club in Kovacica, YU7ABN in Padina and many others. At the same time, the capitalist reform was taking place in Slovakia, which had an impact on the demise of many radio clubs, among them also our OM3KME in Stara Turaje.

But still, they are nice memories of my youth, to the beginnings of amateur radio, for enthusiasm and elan, who accompanied us then. I will never forget. 73om3tix
