GuestHello ma'am,
could someone give me some advice, how to connect FT-817 with some SDR software. I would need to streamline and simplify the entire service, as fingers and eyes are not so good anymore.
Well thank you

ParticipantSDR is not a service transparency, but the method of signal processing. With the use of a computer and software, it is possible to obtain better characteristics of the receiver, spectroscope or various filters.
Connection to the FT-817 is theoretically possible, but very complicated. It would require device intervention (MF signal output).
If I understand correctly, you are interested in controlling the FT817 with a computer. Interaction is required for connection, e.g.. http://www.min.at/prinz/oe1rib/CAT/ and choose some software. A favorite is HAM Radio DeLuxe http://www.hrdsoftwarellc.com/

GuestExactly, thanks for the clarification,
the interface can be bought somewhere in Slovakia, or someone knows how to make it and take it apart?
It's not that I'm lazy to search, i found e.g. http://www.dinodirect.sk/akcia/USB-CT-62-CAT-kabel-pre-Yaesu-FT-100-FT-817-FT-857 ,I'm just not sure, Is this the right thing to do? (or trust the USB stick)and I will get advice from a reliable seller, these probably won't help me with possible problems.om1ci
Participanthttp://www.microham.com
but that is probably too complicated and especially expensive, you can look anywayom2ar
ParticipantI have a similar USB CAT cable as you mentioned and with HAM Radio DeLuxe http://www.hrdsoftwarellc.com/ works reliably, everything is going to be controlled from

GuestOK, diki OM2AR, personal experience is valued the most,
I looked at the prices and the differences are amazing, the manufacturer sells for 8$, distributor in Slovakia for €17 and I found it in the price list of a brick-and-mortar store for €40. Real wildernessAnonymous
GuestUSB CAT interface sa da kupit eg. via eBay for a few pennies. I also bought one a while ago and it works reliably. it's a question of a couple of euros, under no circumstances should you throw out tens of euros.

ParticipantIf you can't put it together yourself, so on 409shop from Hong Kong there is a PC COM interface for 13 USD and a USB for 14,70 USD, the price also includes postage. This is how you will control the TCVR, but you won't be able to tolerate the modulation, what is needed with digimodoch. For modulation, it will be connected to a PC sound box, best through the separating transformer or as Jozko OM1CI tipped you, so you can find an all-in-one solution with a single USB cable on microham.

GuestI am still asking you for info, whether after connecting the station to the PC via RS232, something needs to be switched on the station, it does not respond at all, well thank you
om1aeg
ParticipantThe baud rate must match in the program on the PC and in the station, there is an item for that.
You didn't write how you connected it, so no one can give you more advice, The crystal balls in Tesco have already sold out 🙂 Are you using the factory USB or some self-made ones? 2 transistor converter to RS232 in PC or via MAX232, how is your spacer powered?, either from the port or specially, etc., etc…

Guestthe only problem is the rest, na DATA konektore, data out 1200 bps, there is no signal from the station, (the station is also set to 1200). To use this exit e.g. pre-SSTV?
om2amb
ParticipantYou have to read the manuals properly 😉
1.) audio input/output on the data connector. (some generations have full functionality only when set to PKT/DIG “modulation” (There are two different exits for 9600 a 1200 due to the NF filter)
2.) The ACC connector is used for control. RXD/TXD a GND piny 😉 (And it's TTL level)
