I was thinking about D-Star, as it is possible to have another UHF RPT in a good place in BA but:
– expensive, minimum for users
– close – only manufacturer or DV Dongle with PC should be used
– expansion among OM HAMs in per mille
– not applicable for ARES, the more primitive and widespread solution applies here
– it would not bring me the pleasure of building RPT as an analog, where I can dig in the radio and adapt it to my image – yes it is possible to solve it via DV Dongle but again consumption and failure rate in relation to analog
– The busy analogue of OM converters is low, with the D-old it would be even smaller
+ new technology
+ easy linking without loss of transmission quality
D-STAR is not like APRS, where it applies, that it must first be a hen (diginy) and then I'll be eggs (users), for APRS, TRX can be used without other use and the tracker can be kneeled from a few components.
My opinion is too, that even amateurs will digitize over time, but I'm not convinced of that, that it will be D-STAR, soon to have a chance of some open project that can be made at home and can be used by several TRX manufacturers, not just one. A few years have passed since the launch of D-Star, and since then codecs and new modulations have been made possible, enabling either more robust transmission or wider data possibilities.. For example, open source http://www.rowetel.com/blog/?page_id=452
But the Slovak reality is like that, that many areas are without OM analog RPT coverage and so considering DSTAR comes to me now as scifi 🙂 For example central Slovakia, the two local fliaciky in ZV and LC are not covered 🙂
