Material on the organization of the QRP race in OK

Friends of QRP,

as agreed at the VHF meeting in Holice, there was a meeting between ČRK emissary Jirka OK1RI and the organizer of the Classic QRP race Mirek OK1DOM. The wish was to try to come to an agreement between the two organizers of VKV QRP races, to avoid duplication.

Many points of view were considered during the meeting, the result sheets were reviewed only from the year 2001. It was clear from the graphs, that on Sunday morning the best stations had po 16 hours of racing around 50 connection, which difference was quickly eliminated by the new stations with fresh forces on Sunday. From the comparison of the results of the stations in the first places of the 24-hour and 6-hour race, it was found, that the point differences were quite minimal and do not correspond 18 hours of the race duration difference. For many, the 24-hour race was more of a social event, which corresponds to the evening suspension of racing activities. Therefore, it is not worth insisting on the length of the race 24 hours and it is better to focus on the 6-hour one with higher activity.

Course of the race in. 2009 at club stations. OK1KTT 1. place /24h, OK2KYJ 2./24h, OK2M 3./24h 1./6h, OK5T 6.24h 2./6h, OK1KUO 7./24h 3./6h There are some inaccuracies in the graph, but the trend is clear.

The number of connections with relatively distant stations in. 2009. Since Saturday, the Yugoslav one has been running in parallel, Polish, French and British plant. Connections with F and YU are informative.

 24h	9 CALL	10 QSO YU	6h	9 CALL F	24h	5 CALL	5 QSO F	6h	3 CALL	8 QSO

Obviously no significant difference.

The main challenge for the future is the rapidly growing Alpe Adria Contest. It does have the LP category though (do 50 W) a QRP (do 5 W), but the last one is somewhat illusory for OK - a hill above 1600 There is only one m/m in the Czech Republic. To, that the Italians are driving QRO, Slovenians, Croats etc. we basically don't mind, it's worse, that they interfere with each other and our tea lights are no longer readable there. But what bothers them, that with the end they also start here. Some are recognized, have until 100 W, which can handle the inputs of even worse devices, but a lot is really QRO, who ignored the pleas and turned the knob to the right. The consequence was a thing unknown in previous years, interference. QRO cannot be disabled during the race, can only be appealed. Every year there are more and more QRO stations at the time of the QRP race.

Stations have been pulled from the Alpe Adria result sheets, which participated in the QRO categories:

 OK2POI JN99WW 900W OK1IA JN89EJ 400W OK1DC JN69JJ 100W OK1AGE JO70ED 500W OK1DFR JN69NX 300W OK2DGB JN79UF 100W OK1TEH JO70FD 900W

Must deliver, that Matěj was only singing and was not heard, it can be seen by the number of points.

We tried to find some other handy term in the summer, but either at that time there is already some other race, or they are Holice.
Because, as the old saying goes, you can't urinate against the wind, we propose the following solution: Move the QRP race to Saturday afternoon of the same weekend, race duration 6 hours. Polish stations will be available at the same time, French and Yugoslav race.

What will we lose?, except for the traditional Sunday:

  • in total 10 connection with Sommer BBT participants. This year it sent a journal 25 stations

  • incalculable number of connections from Alpe Adria

  • connection with the competitors of the Slovak LP race, unless they change the date at the same time as us

  • probably the ability to send a paper journal (1-3 pcs per year)

What do we get?:

  • undisturbed zone with a view, that the QRO stations will not be broadcasting at that time  the stations from Alpe Adria will be on the hills at that time and will want to test the equipment. It can be assumed, that in view of the early start of the Alpe Adria, they will build the stations already on Saturday

  • station, who build more powerful systems can continue with another race on Sunday, Alpe Adria

  • at the same time, the stations in OK will be able to go to QRO Alpe Adria without worries and use their silos and farms in the next race

  • known interface in the Moravians including analyses.

We have an advantage, that due to the general knowledge of the large number of stations in OK during the races there is a good chance, that the rest of Europe will adapt to us. Similarly, as we have generated virtually pan-European activity in the time of the Operational asset is hope, that we will succeed in the next race as well.

The start of the race would be either in the classics 14 UTC, then it would end in 20 UTC, but that fits 22 daylight savings time. It would be dark enough to pack and returning with a flashlight probably wouldn't help either. It would probably be better to start earlier, and 12 UTC, when the first 2 we would make out with each other for hours, then the more interesting stations would start.

The propositions should remain roughly the same, race open to foreign participants, results via Moravany or by email.

Both previous organizers would take care of the promotion of the race, ČRK within the framework of its partner organizations would start already in Vienna, Mirek OK1DOM will try to negotiate with the Slovak organizer Viliam OM0AAO to change the date of their race.
