SwR – Shortwave Radio is an Android application from the Czech development studio Kruen sro from Nová Paka, which serves as a client for the global network of public shortwave receivers KiwiSDR and Web-888. The application allows you to connect to real antenna systems located all over the world and listen to live HF band reception directly from your mobile phone - without your own receiver and without a subscription. It has been available on Google Play since June 2026 and is updated continuously; the last update was on July 8, 2026.

SwR displays a live spectrum and a sliding waterfall in real time. The user tunes by dragging the spectrum, band panning is available by dragging the waterfall. The frequency display works in the style of nixie tubes with tuning by individual digits, or by entering the frequency directly from the dial. Supported demodulation modes are AM, SAM, LSB, USB, CW and NBFM with adjustable bandwidth and frequency shift. Waterfall is also available in 3D and 4D views. The audio section includes equalizer, noise reduction, Noise blanker, squelch and AGC. Smart scan automatically scans the band and stops on signals according to an adjustable threshold.
The receiver map shows the distribution of available stations worldwide, including day and night indication; tapping on a receiver connects the app. The list of receivers is also available in list form. The app is ad-free, does not charge any fees, and according to the developer's declaration, does not collect any user data.

Requirements and availability

SwR is available exclusively for the Android platform via Google Play. The application requires an active internet connection for audio streaming and loading the receiver list. The application does not require any special permissions beyond network access. The rating on Google Play is 4.6 out of 5 (26 reviews, as of July 2026).
