Amateur radio stations are used for self-education, technical study and sports activities of radio amateurs. The establishment and operation of an amateur radio station is only possible on the basis of a valid individual license for the use of frequencies. This is issued in Slovakia by the Office for the Regulation of Electronic Communications and Postal Services (formerly the Telecommunications Office of the Slovak Republic).
