Amateur QRP transceiver

Year, today is the time of commodity transceivers. Why build something and get embarrassed, although the result will still be qualitatively worse than friends of Kenwood or ICOM, ci YAESU each ? But radio amateurs are radio operators ? In the tests we must know the function of the individual blocks of the transceiver, how do they work and so on.

Maybe I asked myself such questions as well, when I browsed the HAM site on the Internet. I also got to the site www.qrpproject.de . Here I was interested, from a lot of German radio amateurs offer for sale a kit of QRP equipment. From simple to more complex. I downloaded the manual for one of them – Black Forrest QRP Transceiver. I fished in the old school knowledge of German and began to quote. Since I don't consider myself a beginner, I clicked on the introductory chapters very quickly and got to the essence of construction. It looked like it, that it is not an initial construction. But I was fascinated by the instructions, that it is really a step by step procedure, how to build a transceiver with fairly decent parameters. Owners of Icomov prepacte, s vasimi “delami” of course it cannot be compared :-). The winding instructions of the spools were described in individual steps, procedures for animating individual function blocks. The only one already, which was not published in a reproducible form was a printed circuit board. And it's in pr.. I told myself. It probably won't work without a flat. I haven't forgotten to design plots, but I confess, I didn't really want the whole transceiver. A najma, when there is no e.g.. electrolyte on 16 V, calmly there will also go to 32 V. But once the plot is done, no, this is a complete disaster, adapt it to a bigger condition.

While browsing the net, I also came across the pages of various bastlers, who did not use conventional printed circuit boards, but “lepili” everything directly on the honey of unetched cuprextite. I tried it, I told myself. So I decided to build a transceiver in an amateur. But before I started, I did one very important thing, which I recommend to potential interested parties. I got all the parts. The only exception is transistors to the output stage. So far I only have D-cko, I can't do short waves, so I have the end so I do not bother 🙂

The authors used Neosid coils in the construction. OOps, so I probably won't get this, I said to myself. I even tried to advertise here on cq.sk, but no response. So abbot on the net and search. I worked for a company in the Czech Republic (I will not advertise, but who wants, I will send him contact). Here I came across very willing people and within a week they were skeletons on ferrite coils at home.
And so I set out “gluing”. By source, which was very simple (az na zle popisane vyvody stabilizatora v nemenovanom katalogu, uff, prezil to, but he bothered me enough, when he did not want to stabilize 10 V :-)), I said to myself, that the snake will somehow work.

So I spent long winter evenings in the hamshack. Gradually I recovered a larger part of the transceiver. Mostly it was easy, but some measuring technique was also needed. But don't worry, beginners, nic extra. Basically, the most important was the HF millivoltmeter. If you don't have it, the author likes you as well as with an ordinary multimeter. As they say, it also goes with a calibrated srobovak . The oscilloscope failed, ved is just to 10 MHz, but the quote came in handy. Although not as much in the revival as now as a replacement for the scale.

Every step, which I did exactly as instructed, went to the first engagement (az na ten nestastny stabilizator…). As I mentioned, I did not detect the final transistors, so I haven't finished the broadcast yet. But the attempts at the receiving party were amazing. Perhaps this could be compared to the first attempts at crystal in primary school. The receiver is listening to me for now 3.5 MHz passme. But those first evening attempts, to bol uzas. I connected the dipole and retuned the band. I heard some connections between DL and S5 stations. I also decoded the APRS from ISS several times, but I haven't been able to send it to a large antenna yet. I was looking forward to it like a little boy. My device listens better than the R5 ! I immediately removed the modified R5 from the hamshack. But of course she also helped me with the construction, so all the ways:-)

And now I'm moving on. He has a digital VFO with DDS and finish the bandwidth for the next band. But I got a little stuck with the PIC programmer. My Windowsze doesn't want XP to communicate nicely with the LPT port, that's how I stand. But don't worry, I'm sure my Black Forrest won't end up in a dime. I listen to eighty regularly, especially telegraphy. When I can, so this year we will go to bites and then huraaa, dokoncit koncovy stepsen. And then maybe you will find out about it here on cq.sk and I hope so, that also on the band. I remind all construction enthusiasts, that we are approaching the EU and you will not have to be embarrassed like me with the naked parts and the flat. I will be able to easily order from and from DL.

So they will hear and YOU 73 !
