Morse Expert comes from Alexa VE3NEA, author of the breakthrough program CW Skimmer. This application also uses for morse code decoding same algorithms. It is therefore also suitable for receiving the weak, fluctuating or interfering signals as they occur on amateur radio frequencies.
Morse code
Morse code (morzeovka) is a group of symbols, which is used in telegraphy. Encodes characters of the Latin alphabet, numbers and special characters in combinations of short and long signals. In layman's terms, they are referred to as dots and dashes. The alphabet coding was invented by an American inventor, painter and sculptor Samuel Morse. He made the first telegraphic connection between Washington and Baltimore in a year 1844. The original alphabet was still in 1918 improved.

Using Morse Expert
The application has a minimum of settings. It can also use the signal picked up by the smartphone's microphone, but it is recommended to use a cable connection between the receiver and the smartphone. This method eliminates unwanted sounds, which the microphone picks up or echoes.
There is a choice between general text in the application (General Text mode) and amateur radio text (Ham Radio QSO mode). He differs in that, that it emphasizes the terms and symbols used in amateur radio communications.
The second setting is frequency lock. By default, Morse Expert automatically tunes to the strongest signal in the received acoustic spectrum. However, this may not be ideal if the spectrum has multiple signals. Morse Expert then switches between them.
The received signal is marked in the spectrum with a green triangle. If we click on it, changes color to yellow, thus disabling the automatic change of the received signal. Click again to unlock Morse Expert's automatic selection of the received signal. This is a weakness of the application - clicking on such a small element is quite difficult.

Yes, the morse code decoder can rewrite the received signal into text form. It does not match the quality of the human ear, but for the occasional finding of "o means beeping" it's a handy application.
