Kenwood TS-590S – property overview
KV+50MHz transceiver TS-590S
The latest KV + 50 MHz transceiver od KENWOOD-u s novou, modern concept. It uses a receiver built on the principle of a downconverter with 1. MF at 11MHz. (Ten-Tec also uses such a concept in their transcripts, Electraft and Yaesu in the latest TCVR-FT-5000). As a result, it has excellent dynamic properties. Declared receiver resistance IP + 30dBm at a distance 2 kHz. On 1. Two roofing filters 2.7kHz and 500Hz can be used with MF.
Easy operation
Thanks to the large display / two-color LED backlight / with excellent visibility, simple menu and intuitive operation make operation a pleasure.
TX/RX NF DSP
32-bitwise NF digital signal processing offers options such as noise reduction, TX / RX equalizer and audio filters. KENWOOD was the first to use a DSP using IF AGC, which also allows you to suppress unwanted signals that pass through MF filters. http://www.kenwood.com/i/products/info/amateur/software_download.html
100W output power
When operating with supply voltage 13,8 V, the TS-590S is able to give 100W HF power in HF bands. The cooling system is equipped with a pair 60 × 60 mm fans. With two fans, it provides sufficient airflow at low speeds, ensuring quiet operation. The aluminum chassis together with the large heat sink ensures efficient heat dissipation. Such a mechanical cooling design ensures continuous operation, especially in contests and DX expeditions.
Built-in antenna tuner
After pressing the automatic preset, the tuner is able to fine-tune very quickly and even during retuning we can also receive. When we change the frequency, so it remembers the set values for each antenna and band. Tuning is then really very fast.
USB connection to PC
Thanks to the USB connector, it is possible to connect the TS-590S with a cable to a PC. The USB interface enabled control and Tx / Rx audio connection of the transceiver via the standard interface of current PCs.
Remote control (Network control system from KENWOD)
The ARCP-590 program can be used to control the tranceiver from a computer (PC 200 MHz a W98). ARHP-590 is an extension of this program, with which it is possible to work outside the hamshack via the tranceiver. It requires a fast enough computer with a sound card (Windows 2000/XP) with high speed internet connection, or LAN. It uses VoIP (Voice over Internet protocol). Both programs are freely distributable and can be downloaded at http://www.kenwood.com/i/products/info/amateur/software_download.html
Compact design
The radio station was designed very compactly and is therefore also suitable for DX expeditions, or post-table operation. Weight is 7.4 kg and dimensions 270 mm (Š) x 96mm (V) x 291mm (H). Power supply from car battery or stabilized DC power supply 13,8 V / 20A.
