Times are strange, but some things still remain constant. The stable thing is Winter QRP race to VHF. This year it falls on February 7, 2021. It looks like there will be snow and sub-freezing temperatures as it lands for a proper winter race. So charge your batteries, dress warmly and head out to a hill for a race.

Conditions for the Winter QRP race 2021
These propositions are valid from January 1, 2011 for the Winter QRP race at VKV. ČAV – Czech-Moravian radio amateurs announce the Winter QRP competition on VKV.
The winter QRP race at VKV always takes place on the Sunday of the first full weekend in February. Competitors from all states can participate in it. It is an international race.

Competitive bands
– 432 MHz 09:00–11:00 UTC
– 144 MHz 11:00–13:00 UTC
Types of operation
CW and FONE according to the permit conditions, while it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the First Region IARU for various types of operation in frequency sections of amateur radio bands.
Additional conditions
– QTH arbitrary, there can be an electric current on the dimensions.
– All station equipment must be placed on an area with a maximum diameter of 500 meters. The location of the station must not be changed during the race.
– The use of a remote receiver or transmitter is not allowed.
– Each station can only have one signal at a time, while the signals necessary to connect to the packet radio network are not counted. Several stations can broadcast from one station according to the agreement between them.
– The power of the final stage of the transmitter or the sum of the powers of the final stages can be a maximum of 10 W.
– Powering all devices necessary for operation (TCVR, rotator, bug, PC...) only from chemical sources; these sources can be recharged during the race exclusively from solar cells, Peltier cells, or human-powered mechanical sources.
– The antennas can be erected no earlier than the Friday before the race.
– Connections EME, cross-band and via ground or space transmitters are not counted in the race.
– Only one valid connection is counted with each station on each band, where the complete competition code has been transmitted and confirmed. Repeated connections must be marked in the log (RPT, DUPE, etc.) with a point value of 0.
– Používanie DX Clusteru, chatu, mobilu a pod. nie je obmedzené.

Competition code
The competition code consists of RS or RST, sequence number of the connection and WW-locator. The sequence number of the connection on each band must start with the number 001. The complete code, including the sequence number of the connection from 001, is also sold by non-competing stations that do not want to be evaluated. Three zeros - 000 - is not a valid sequence number and the connection will be evaluated as invalid. Stations that do not wish to be rated need not send a log.
Scoring
One point is calculated for each kilometer of distance covered between stations. The point value of the connection in the competition diary must be given as a whole number. 1 point is counted for a connection in the same WW-locator. According to the recommendations of IARU Region I, the coefficient 111.2 should be used to convert degrees to kilometers, taking into account the curvature of the Earth. The WGS-84 (World Geodetic System 1984) system is used to determine the latitude and longitude of the competition site for calculating the locator. Connections with non-competing stations are also valid, but they are required to transmit the entire competition code, including the sequence number.
Evaluation
Each zone will be evaluated separately, as well as the entire race with the sum of points from both zones. Single and multi stations are evaluated together. The first three stations in each band and in the overall order will receive a diploma.
The competition diary can be sent to the evaluator electronically or in paper form:
– The electronic diary must be in the EDI format (REG1TEST), designated as the standard format for the evaluation of plants within the IARU Region. The diary in another format will not be accepted and the station will not be evaluated.
– The paper log can be a legible photocopy of the station log with the connection points marked.
– You can also send a legibly scanned paper journal with marked points for connections.
– The diary from the race must be sent to the evaluator's address no later than the tenth day after the end of the race.

The connection is invalid, if the station has in the diary:
– any error in the received code, i.e. in the call sign, report, serial number of the connection or locator,
– connection time difference greater than 10 minutes compared to the correct UTC time.
The station will not be evaluated:
– for non-compliance with competition or permit conditions,
– for false or erroneous data in the competition diary,
– for unsportsmanlike behavior in the race.
Log submission:
– electronically at: qrp [zavináč] seznam.cz
– by mail to the address: Miroslav Bečev, Neustupného 1831, 155 00 Prague 5
By sending the log, the station confirms that it has fulfilled the proposals of the Winter QRP plant at VKV.
He wishes good experiences
