Results of the 1st stage of SLP 2016

The first stage of the SLP 2016 competition, which took place during the weekend of January 30-31, 2016, started the new year of the traditional SWL activities in style. Competitors from various European countries demonstrated high-quality monitoring performances and indicated at the very beginning of the season that the fight for the overall championship will be exciting again.

Sjuk Veenstra (NL6904) did best, winning with a score of 10,125 points. His result already brought a significant lead in the first stage. Sjuk confirmed that he is among the most experienced SLP participants and will also be among the candidates for the top ranks in 2016.

Second place was taken by Konstantin Vakhonin (RU4SS) with a solid score of 7,747 points. Konstantin is traditionally one of the stable and strong players in the year-round rating, and although this time he lost about three thousand points to the leader.

Third place went to Alex Gorbunov (US-Q-73) with a score of 5,612 points. Alex made use of his many years of experience and confirmed that he is one of the most active SWLs in the region. His result would have been enough for second place in many previous years.

Close behind the top three was Kees Schout (NL294) with 4,277 points, followed by Helmut Grund (DE2HUG) who scored 3,496 points. Both presented themselves with stable performances and indicated that they can still surprise in the next stages.

Marc Stinkens (ONL4638) with 2,232 points, Johan Heus (NL9723) with 1,887 points, Aleksandr Boyko (US-Q-2115) with 1,624 points and finally Sylvain Corré (F-70043) with 1,188 points also reached the top ten.
