The winter QRP race at VKV always takes place in Sunday of the first full weekend in February. Competitors from all countries can participate in it - that's it international race.
You will read in the article
Competitive bands:
- 432 MHz: 09.00 – 11.00 UTC
- 144 MHz: 11.00 - 13.00 UTC
Types of operation:
CW and phone according to permit conditions, while it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the 1st region IARU for individual types of operation in frequency sections of amateur radio bands.

Additional conditions:
- QTH arbitrary, there can be an electric current on the dimension.
- The entire equipment of the station must be placed on an area with a maximum diameter of 500 meters. The position of the station may not change during the race.
- The use of a remote receiver or transmitter is not permitted.
- At one time, each station can only have one signal, while the signals needed to connect to the packet radio network are not taken into account.
- Several stations can broadcast from one station - according to the agreement between them.
- The power of the output stage of the transmitter or the sum of the outputs of all final stages must be the maximum 10 watts.
- Powering all devices necessary for operation (TCVR, rotator, bug, PC...) must be only from chemical sources. They can be recharged during the race only from solar cells, Peltier cells or mechanical sources powered by human power.
- Antennas must be erected no earlier than the Friday before the race.
- Connections EME, cross-band and through ground or space transmitters are not counted in the race.
- Each station can only be counted on each band one valid connection, during which both stations transferred and confirmed the complete competition code. Repeated connections must be marked in the diary (RPT, DUPE, etc.) with a point value 0.
- Using DX Clusteru, chatu, mobilu and the like is not limited.
Competition code
It consists of RS or RST, sequence number of the connection and WW locator.
The serial number of the connection on each band must start with a number 001.
The complete code, including the sequence number from 001, is also transmitted by non-competing stations that do not want to be evaluated.
Three zeroes – 000 – are not a valid sequence number and the connection will be marked as by the evaluator invalid.
Stations that do not wish to be rated need not send a log.

Scoring
For each kilometer of distance between the two stations is calculated 1 point.
The point value of the connection in the journal must be listed as whole number.
For connection in the same WW locator is calculated 1 point.
According to the recommendations of the 1st region of the IARU, it should be used coefficient 111.2 for converting degrees to kilometers, taking into account the curvature of the Earth.
A system is used to determine the latitude and longitude of the competition site WGS-84 (World Geodetic System 1984).
Connections with non-competing stations are also valid, but they must transmit the entire competition code, including the sequence number.
Evaluation
It will be evaluated each band separately also the whole race a simple sum of points from both bands.
The station single a multi are evaluated together.
The first three stations on each band and in the overall order will receive diploma.
Competition diary
It can be sent electronically or in paper form:
- The electronic diary must be in the format EDI (REG1TEST) – standard for evaluating races within the 1st IARU region. Diary in a different format will not be accepted and the station will not be evaluated.
- As a paper logbook, a legible photocopy of the station logbook with marked connection points will suffice.
- You can also send scanned paper journal by e-mail, if it is legible and with marked points.
- The log must be submitted no later than the tenth day after the end of the race.
The connection is invalid if the station in the log:
- has any error in the received code (brand, report, serial number or locator),
- has connection time difference greater than 10 minutes against the correct UTC time.
The station will not be evaluated in the race:
- for non-compliance with competition or permit conditions,
- for false or erroneous data in the competition diary,
- for unsportsmanlike conduct during the race.
Log submission:
- Electronically to the address: QRP@seznam.cz
- By mail to the address: Miroslav Bečev, Neustupného 1831, 155 00 Prague 5
By sending the log, the station confirms that met the requirements of the Winter QRP race at VKV.
